0

The Disobedience DVD and Blu-ray are finally out, so you might want to head out and get a copy of this powerful love story. It was released last July 17, 2018, and the digital copies were released last July 10, 2018.

Disobedience has grossed over $6 million to date. It has reaped favorable movie reviews for its intriguing love story amidst a time when conformity and restraint are the norm. Metacritic rated the film 74%, while Rotten Tomatoes gave the film an 85% rating with majority of the critics and the audience agreeing that the film is worth watching.

According to Rolling Stone, the “forbidden love romance is scorching. No one who sees the groundbreaking trail that the movie blazes is going to shut up about it.”

Toronto Star says it’s “a beautifully crafted tale that will make your heart ache thanks to two standout leading performances and a great supporting one”.

While Globe and Mail writes “It is a love story, as beautiful as it is devastating”.

Plot: Disobedience is the story of Ronit (Rachel Weisz) who returns to the Jewish community where she grew up to pay respect to her late father only to rekindle a past romance with her childhood friend, Esti (Rachel McAdams). In a community who shunned her for a past forbidden love, together they must embark on a journey wrought by faith and norms and discover what it means to live in freedom and pursue true love.

Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdam’s Game Night: A Comedy Movie That Actually Works!

0

At first glance, you’d think that this Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams starrer is just another R-rated comedy that would probably have a lackluster performance at the box office with less than stellar reviews, but it pulled off quite a surprise!

Apparently, Game Night earned a respectable $117.1 million in the box office with its $37 million budget. And critics are loving it to boot!

Plot

Game Night revolves around middle-class couple Max and Annie, portrayed by James Bateman and Rachel McAdams, respectively. The highlight of their married life is the weekly game night with other married couples.

This game night takes an exciting, albeit thrilling, turn when Max’s brother, Brooks (Kyle Chandler) drops in on them and decides to invite them over to his house for a more immersive game night. The live-action role-play game night involves someone being kidnapped and the rest of the couples finding out how to rescue the kidnapped person.

There is no complicated, mind-boggling plot that ensues, but this kidnapping plot is enough to keep the story going and the laughs coming with some thrilling scenes in between.

Review

With so many comedy films disappointing audiences with its poor plot, low budget, and recycled laughs, it seems that Game Night was treading in those very same footsteps at first glance. Heck, the title itself was a continuation of the some-kind-of-Night trend of late, but lo and behold, it was quite entertaining, providing good laughs with enough of a suspense to have you look forward to the mysterious kidnapping that is the center plot of the movie.

During its release, word of mouth got around that Game Night was not your typical comedy movie. It caught the moviegoers’ attention with its intelligent and dynamic cast performances. There’s power duo Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams who actually play the married couple effectively you’d actually think they actually are. But, it’s Jesse Plemons with his awesome impersonation of Michael Shannon, which borders on the creepy, who’s definitely a standout. It helps that the entire cast’s comedic styles all come together nicely.

The fact that Game Night is steering away from the usual comedic tropes has also received positive feedback.  In general, the entire film doesn’t adhere to the common comedic formula thanks to the overhaul that Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley did on the entire script.

Rated R18 for language and violence, the bottom line is that Game Night actually, really works for that fun Friday night movie time!

Rachel McAdams has been consistently making great films. This year, she also stars in Disobedience opposite Rachel Weisz. Check it out!

Rachel McAdams Weighs in on the Much-Talked About Disobedience Sex Scene

0

Disobedience is finally out and critics are praising it, calling attention to Rachel Weisz and Rachel McAdams eloquent performances, capturing the nuances of their respective characters. Critics call it a beautiful story of love, personal truth, and emotional contentment.

[WARNING: SPOILER AHEAD]

One of the most talked about scenes that left a mark on both critics and audiences alike was the love scene of the two Rachels with emphasis on the moment Rachel Weisz spits into Rachel McAdams’ mouth. While critics have weighed in on how the love scene was one of the best this year, the stars also have a lot to say about it.

Rachel McAdams, when asked about the love scene, describes it as something unlike she’s ever done before. Agreeing with Weisz that it was an integral part of the movie, an empowering pivotal scene that is needed for her character’s development.

According to McAdams, this sex scene was a release, for her character to finally open up and be free. Filming the scene gave her a sense of freedom and safety, a camaraderie, of trying out all the things you love being a woman with another woman. She went on to say that there is an energy to the scene she hasn’t felt with any of her other onscreen male partners.

Asked whether it was challenging to take on a lesbian character, McAdams says that she never put her Esti character in that light. She only thought about channeling the oppression of sexuality and love between human beings.

Rachel Weisz has also given her take on this rather unique love scene as well, calling it much more powerful than just sex and describing it as extremely emotional, passionate, spiritual, and romantic. Weisz also emphasized that a love scene with a woman is less stubbly and much softer.

Disobedience is a story based on Naomi Alderman’s novel about a woman who returns to her community and rekindling their passionate love, breaking boundaries of sexuality and religion. It stars Rachel Weisz and Rachel McAdams, alongside Alessandro Nivola. The film had its US release last April 27, 2018.

Rachel McAdams Welcomes First Child – Congratulations to the New Mom!

0

Congratulations are definitely in order as Rachel McAdams has just given birth to her first child! Although the actress has managed to keep everything under the radar, news of her pregnancy still made the rounds in various magazines and tabloids as it was getting harder to keep the baby bump under wraps.

Rachel has always kept her personal life very private, and her pregnancy’s no different. She hasn’t been seen on the red carpet since September last year, also skipping the premiere night of her comedy starrer, The Game Night, opposite Jason Bateman a few months’ back.

Rumors have circulated about her pregnancy though when she was spotted running errands, covering herself up with her handbag in September last year. Then again in November, she was seen wearing a very loose parka at the airport. However, this couldn’t hide her visible lump.

It can be recalled that McAdams and Jamie Linden, Dear John writer, started going out in April 2016. By August of the same year, the couple was photographed shopping for bedroom linens. Fast forward to 2018, and they now have their first born!

In a number of interviews in the past, Rachel has always expressed her desire to start a family of her own in the future. Hoping to be a good mother to a few children, provided she meet the right partner first.

She takes inspiration from her mother who, according to her, has always let her be who she is from the very beginning.

As of this writing, there is no information as to the exact date when the actress gave birth just that Rachel had a healthy baby boy. Rachel’s representative hasn’t provided any information as well.

Congratulations again to the new parents!

Rachel McAdams Turns Heads in a Lacy, Mint Gown at the Disobedience Premiere at the TIFF

0

Time and again Rachel McAdams has proved that she knows how to rock the red carpet in style. And this year’s Toronto International Film Festival is no exemption as she stuns anew in a lacy, minty green gown with a sexy and playful vibe.

Last September 10, 2017, Disobedience premiered at the TIFF, and Rachel McAdams wows yet again as she wore a mint green gown by Elie Saab. The mint green grown features beautiful detailing, from the lace to the frills, and the billowing effect it has makes it look dreamy. The bustier design with frills at the top with ribbon detailing at the center gives off a flirtatious look. The gown flows freely at floor length with frilled edges, again maintaining that flirtatious and dreamy feel. The lace detailing leaves much to the imagination and adds allure to Rachel’s elegance.

To bring the gown at the forefront, Rachel wore very minimal makeup, going for the natural look. Her dark blonde hair was set in waves and parted sideways.  Rachel also went easy on the accessories, wearing only a couple of rings on each hand and simple elegant earrings to complete her look for the night.

The Canadian beauty looked gorgeous posing at the red carpet with her Disobedience co-stars Rachel Weisz and Alessandro Nivola. Both stars also had their A game on, with Weisz wearing a cream-colored gown with black lace detailings and Nivola donning the classic black suit.

Disobedience tells the forbidden love story set in the Jewish community. Rachel McAdams and Rachel Weisz play the two childhood friends who try to rekindle their romance after the latter goes home at the death of her rabbi father. Alessandro Nivola plays the husband of Rachel McAdams, who complicates further the situation.

Sebastian Lelio, Disobedience’s director shared a funny anecdote while filming the movie. With two Rachels in the movie, there seems to be some confusion on set. Lelio shared that when he was trying to talk to one Rachel, he meant the other one, but both Rachels turned.

Rachel McAdams was a welcome addition to the cast as she has always been a great actress. Other than this though, she also has great chemistry with Rachel Weisz and her other co-actors. Aside from Friday’s premier of Disobedience, the movie is also set for a May 4, 2018 release in the UK.

Rachel McAdams and Jason Bateman will play Annie and Max, respectively. With the filming underway, the movie’s plot has also been revealed in detail. The couples weekly game night takes an exciting turn when Max’s brother, Brooks (played by Kyle Chandler) sets up a murder mystery party complete with all the fake goons and federal agents.  As the couples compete to solve the game, they find out that the entire set up is not as it seems to be. The game has unexpected twists and turns, but will it turn out to be as fun as they’ve hoped it would?

John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein are directing this comedy movie. The movie is set for a February, 2018 release date and Warner Bros. Pictures distributing it.
