The British Independent Film Awards 2018 has officially rolled out the list of nominees this year, and Rachel McAdams has been nominated. Among the nominees for the Best Supporting Actress category, Rachel McAdams got the panel’s approval for the movie Disobedience in her portrayal of Esti, Ronit’s (Rachel Weisz) childhood best friend and lover before she went away.
Fellow cast member Rachel Weisz has been also nominated in the award-giving body for the Best Actress category for her portrayal in the Jewish drama movie, Disobedience. To boot, Disobedience has garnered a couple of nominations too, including Best Film and Best Screenplay.
According to BIFA, this year’s nominations are dominated by women, with individual nominations making up almost half of the list. These female nominees lead in writing, producing, directing, and acting categories.
The award ceremonies for the British Independent Film Awards 2018 will be held at the Old Billingsgate in London on December 2, 2018.
Disobedience is a movie about a woman who returns to the Orthodox Jewish community that turned their backs on her when she fell in love with her childhood friend. On her return, she must face the community who judged her and resist rekindling her romance with her former lover.
Since its release, Disobedience has received mostly favorable reviews from the audience and critics alike. And award-giving bodies seem to agree as so far, Disobedience has earned a number of nominations from the Goteborg Film Festival, International Online Cinema Awards, and Guadalajara International Film Festival. The list keeps on getting longer too!
Good luck to the lovely Rachel McAdams and the rest of the Disobedience film nominees!
