With the premiere of Doctor Strange looming, fans are getting more excited as to whether Rachel McAdams’ character, Christine Palmer, will turn into Night Nurse in the movie. But a few days into the October 20, 2016 premiere, producer Kevin Feige debunks these theories.

In an interview with EW, Feige has stated that Christine Palmer won’t become the Night Nurse in the film. He further went on to say that, ‘It’s just as much fun for us as it is for the fans to speculate about that.’ While Rachel McAdams stated that, ‘mum’s the word on that one’, regarding rumors of Night Nurse.

However, with how Kevin Feige carefully worded his answer, it leaves open the chance of the character’s development in future movie installments. For now, Rachel McAdams will remain Christine Palmer, Dr. Strange’s colleague, love interest, and the link to his previous life.

Doctor Strange also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, Benjamin Bratt, and Tilda Swinton. Catch Doctor Strange in UK cinemas on October 24, 2016 and in US cinemas on November 4, 2016.

Update Alert: Rachel McAdams’ Role in Disobedience Confirmed!

Just a few days ago, it can be recalled that Rachel McAdams was confirmed to star in the film adaptation of the 2006 Naomi Alderman novel, Disobedience.

Now, it has been reported by several entertainment news outlets that Rachel McAdams is slated to take on the role of Esti, Ronit’s childhood friend and ex-girlfriend in her hometown of Henton. Ronit, the protagonist, will be played by Rachel Weisz who’s also on board as one of the movie’s producer.

Disobedience revolves around the life of 32-year-old career woman, Ronit Krushka who is forced to come home because of her father’s death. Upon arriving in Henton, an Orthodox Jewish suburb, she tries to reconnect with her old life only to find out that her ex-girlfriend and childhood best friend is now married to her cousin.

Considering how both Rachels are powerhouse actresses, it’s going to be a treat seeing these two talented women portray their respective characters – how they struggle with their own complex lives and how they’ll bring to life their repressed love.

Less than 1 month to go, and the much awaited superhero movie, Doctor Strange is finally hitting the theatres.

Academy-award nominated actress Rachel McAdams will take on the role of Christine Palmer in the movie. Although many fans were initially shocked to discover that the talented actress will play this role, as most expectations were for her to portray Clea – the Princess of the Dark Dimension, there is good news!

A Look into the Christine Palmer Character

While it was initially thought that the Christine Palmer role will only be a minor character in the movie, there are a few positive developments to it.

Christine Palmer is described as a fellow surgeon of Dr. Strange and is his love interest in the movie as well. As a colleague of Dr. Strange, Palmer will be one of the very few people in the movie who knows him before, during, and after that fateful accident.

In the first trailer, Christine Palmer was shown to be beside Dr. Strange when he was wheeled to the operating room after his accident. She was also there when he was recuperating, and some movie stills show her assisting Dr. Strange while he was garbed as Sorcerer Supreme sans cloak.

Christine Palmer was chosen as the love interest instead of Clea, because the studio wanted a character who connected Dr. Strange to the normal world even after he became Sorcerer Supreme. According to producer Kevin Feige, they opted to have a grounded character and that’s what Christine Palmer is all about.

Although there are no clues as yet as to how important her character will be in the movie, casting Rachel McAdams in the role may just be a clue in itself. Heck, with how good she is as an actress, it would be a shame not to give her something exciting.

Further Developments

As with any Marvel movie, there are possibilities of a multipicture production, but whether McAdams has signed to it remains unknown. Fans are hopeful, though, that they have something bigger in store for McAdams.

Talks of the Christine Palmer character eventually becoming Night Nurse in Doctor Strange are also surfacing. Whether something substantial as this will happen in the movie remains to be seen. But one thing’s for sure, both Marvel fans and Rachel McAdams fans are getting excited to see Doctor Strange by November 4!

Great news for Rachel McAdams fans! It has been recently confirmed by Screen International that Rachel McAdams will star in the movie adaptation of Naomi Alderman’s debut novel, Disobedience.

Disobedience: The Novel

Disobedience by Naomi Alderman

Disobedience is the bestselling debut novel of Naomi Alderman. The novel centers on the life of 30-something Ronit Krushka, who was forced to return to London when her estranged father died. What’s more pressing, she must also face the people of Hendon, a tight-knit Orthodox Jewish community.

While there, she meets her cousin, Dovid, who is set to replace his father as the local rabbi who also happens to be married to her childhood best friend, Esti. The more interesting tidbit to this novel is that Esti was not only Ronit’s childhood best friend, but she was also in a relationship with her.

 Disobedience: Film Adaptation

The film adaptation of Disobedience will be produced by Rachel Weisz and Ed Guiney of Element Pictures. This is also the English language directorial debut of Chilean filmmaker, Sebastian Lelio. The script will also be written by Lelio with Rebecca Lenkewicz. Aside from Weisz being its film producer in Disobedience, she is also set to star in the said adaptation.

As mentioned earlier, Rachel McAdams has signed to be on board Disobedience alongside Weisz. As to what role Rachel McAdams will take on, nothing has been confirmed as yet. The same goes for Weisz’s role in the movie.

However, there are several guesses as to what these two versatile actresses will be portraying. Fans of the book are excited to see whether Rachel McAdams might play Ronit, the main protagonist. Or, she might also be Esti, Ronit’s forbidden love interest from the past. No other cast members have been announced so far other than the two Rachels.

Filming Details

As of this writing, everything is under wraps and no further details have been released. Filming is set to start by winter with several key locations situated in London.

While it’s great to hear that Rachel McAdams is set to star in another book adaptation, it might take some time before we see her in Disobedience. Good thing she’s going to come out this year in the Marvel superhero movie, Doctor Strange alongside Ben Cumberbatch. The film is set to release on the 25th of this month in the UK, while it’s slated for release on the 4th of November in the US.

As to what role she’ll be playing in Disobedience, stay tuned for more information in the future!

Christine Palmer – Who is Rachel playing?

With “Doctor Strange” soon hitting the theaters (Nov 4th) and with the first ever TV spot (embedded below) being released earlier this week we only thought it appropriate to talk about Christine Palmer. You know, the character Rachel is playing in the movie. Oh, you actually don’t know who that is? Well, let us give you a quick run-through of a character whose appearance might be Marvel hinting at something big!

Let’s start from the beginning.

Between 1972 and 1973 Marvel released a new series of comics, namely “Night Nurse“, in an attempt to draw in female readers, whom, at that point, were very few. The comics center around three female nurses, working at a secret clinic in New York, whose main purpose is to treat superheroes that can not turn to regular hospitals.

These three nurses are Linda Carter, Georgia Jenkins, and Rachel’s character, Christine Palmer, whom all bear the title “Night Nurse”. In the series you follow their “drama, danger, death”-type life in a Marvel superhero cross-over platform that is the clinic.

Now, I talk about the Night Nurses as a group but there is one that, essentially, is the lead character – Linda Carter. The story focuses mainly on her and the only connection to the “Doctor Strange“-comics is between Linda Carter and the doctor himself. Throughout the story-line of Linda Carter she has occasionally teamed up with Dr. Strange and the two have even shared a few romantic moments.

This makes you wonder, why isn’t Rachel playing the character of Linda Carter instead of Christine Palmer? She seems to have the role of someone who is close to Dr. Strange, I mean, just judging by the trailer where she is worryingly by Strange’s side at the hospital (!).

I don’t have the answer. Sorry.

One can of course speculate, and that’s when it gets interesting! You see, this role of Linda Carter was previously thought to be played by actress Rosario Dawson in the Netflix original series, “Daredevil“, back in early 2015. But it was eventually revealed that she (Rosario) was playing another Marvel character named Claire Temple (who shares a very similar background to Linda Carter).

When asked about why Rosario was being cast as Claire Temple, “Daredevil” showrunner Steven S. DeKnight said,

“She [Rosario Dawson] was going to be an actual Night Nurse from the comics and the feature side had plans for her down the road . . . so we just switched to another character that was kind of the same realm of Night Nurse.”

It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that the mentioned Night Nurse is Linda Carter, especially since she is featured in the “Daredevil” comics. From there, one can assume that the makers of “Doctor Strange” were met with the same restriction. And what this could mean . . .

. . . is that, maybe, there is a “Night Nurse” series in the works (which in itself would be awesome) that most probably would feature Rachel, playing Christine Palmer, as part of the crew. Now, that would be a huge deal for Rachel McAdams!

But, one can never be sure when it comes to the realm of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One can, however, hope.

If you haven’t seen it already, check out the TV Spot for “Doctor Strange“, released on Friday, below:

“The Little Prince” – Premiere Tomorrow + Early Sketches

A quick reminder that “The Little Prince” premieres tomorrow, Friday, on Netflix U.S. The movie will also be released in selected theaters in New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Apart from a stellar cast (Jeff Bridges, Rachel McAdams, James Franco, Marion Cotillard, Benicio Del Toro, Ricky Gervais and more) retelling the 1943 story of “The Little Prince“, the movie, as of now, also scores a high 96% on rotten tomatoes, making it certified “Fresh”. It also scores high on Metacritics with a rating of 72!

Rachel, who voices The Mother in the movie, believes the movie has received such high praise because of its emotional intensity and the fact it pays such close homage to the original book.

“The Little Prince does a fantastic job of celebrating life’s mysteries,” she says. “When we grow up, it’s easy to need an answer for every question. Just like the book, the movie pays attention to the importance of enjoying the journey and our relationships, and not necessarily understanding everything. It all circles back to the famous quote from the book, which is ‘What is essential is invisible to the eye’.”

The director, Mark Osbourne (Kung Fu Panda), recently released some early on sketches (gallery below) of the movie to show part of the progress that went into bringing the 1943 fable into to life for a modern audience.

To learn more about the making of the movie you can purchase the Titan Books’ “The Little Prince – The Art of the Movie“. It takes you through the creative process of bringing author Antoine de Saint-Exupery’s  1943 story to life, showcasing various behind-the-scenes photographs, drawings, animated screenshots and production art from the movie.
