This interview was originally in German and we loosely translated it. We are still working on getting the perfect translation of the interview.

They killed her off in “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows”. She did survive in “The Vow”, although it was a close call. In real life she also lives a dangerous live even if she doesn’t realizes it herself.
You already visited Germany a couple of times, do you like it?
I really like Germany. It’s a country with culture and creativity. I only saw Munich from inside my hotel unfortunately, but I did spend some time in Berlin and I will return soon because I will film a movie with Brian De Palma, a really dark thriller. I really look forward to it and I hope that the lilacs bloom will blossem. It was really beautiful the last time I drove on my bike and smelled the lilacs.
Did you drive your bicycle in Berlin?
Yes, I think it’s a really bicycle friendly city. I only drive my bike in Toronto, which is my favorite city. But I did found a really great Yoga studio in Berlin. I have everything I need, so now I can take the city by storm.
Is it true you don’t own a car yourself?
Yes, I walk a lot or take the bus. When I live in Toronto I really don’t need one because the transport is great. But don’t get me wrong, I love to drive and I like to drive fast. But I like the bike culture. There is a good underground transport, although it’s not the best way. The bicycle traffic is less then the car traffic but I like the idea of all the bikes on the road. I really like taking my bike, it’s so much easier. Taking the car can be annoying: No parking, the insurance and and the repairs. They cost a lot of money that you will never get back. As soon as you drive away with your car it’s worth less.
Did you get speeding tickets because you like to drive fast?
No, I don’t think I got a ticket for speeding. But I did get a very serious warning once. I was driving a car with my friend and we were driving trough the city and we were pulled over by 3 police cars and they came to us with flashlights. It was really scary, I thought ‘What’s wrong?’. I rolled down the window and asked: “Did I do something wrong?” and the cop just said “Yes”. I had to sit in his car, and he told me: “You run trough 3 red lights”. And didn’t believe him so I asked: “Did I really?”. “Oh Yes”. And then I remembered it was true, there were flashing lights and in Canada it means you can go on. So he let me go because I was Canadian.
Did he recognize you?
No, thank God he didn’t.
You had many hair colors. In “The Vow” it’s red and you are blonde now. Is it for a new movie, or just your personal choice?
I love being blonde, but I also like to change my color if a role asked for it. That part is so much fun; to make someone real you made up in your head and to collaborate with hair stylist to do so. I love getting dressed up by someone. My mother had a box of dress up clothes in my play room and it was always my favorite thing to do. So now I make a career out of it.
Let’s talk about the movie. Do you believe you have a choice in love, or is everything ment to be? Would we always behave the same when we get a second chance?
I believe there is a power somewhere that decides for us. The effect when we meet someone is much stronger then we believe. We meet each other to learn from one another. Leo allowed Paige to find her family again in a strange way, although Paige is estranged from her family in the movie and is living a new life with him. I think she learned more from him because of the tragedy. Life works in a mysterious way.
The movie poster says: “Inspired by true events”. What can you tell us about that? Did you meet the people on who the story was based?
It’s a married couple, their names are Kim and Krickitt Carpenter and it did happen when they were married for about 2 months. The film is inspired by it, but our story is different because we were together from the beginning. They are really religious. So that was an extra motivation to stay together. They are still together and they have two wonderful children. We met them and they are truly extraordinary people. We are boring if you compare us to them.
Did you do research about memory loss and what the consequences/side effect are?
Yes, I met with a neuro-radiologist in San Francisco who specializes in head trauma. They believe “anything is possible”. It’s difficult to say how someone reacts, everyone is different. For example, there is inappropriate behavior. We did play a little with the fact that Paige laughs at the most inopportune moments or sometimes they are reacting completely different then what you would have expected. This causes a lot of frustration and tension. We have to give in order to be faithful. And that makes the situation even more difficult for Leo. It was interesting for us to discover and explore it.
Did you try to spend less time with Channing Tatum in order to play better? Because you don’t know him (in the movie).
Man, you can not avoid Channing. It’s impossible. One day I found him in my trailer, he loves to scare people and I scare easily. I was eating in my trailer for about ten minutes and looked around and he stood there the whole time in my kitchen without me noticing him before. I never got over it. Everyone heard me scream and they all came running to my trailer and opened the door to see if I was still alive. I was shocked for the rest of the day, and he just fell on the floor and laughed. He thought the sounds I made were very funny, and I think I aged 10 years that day because he scared me so much. He loves pulling pranks. It was great, I never had so much fun on set of a movie, he kept me alert. So we didn’t kept away from each other.
Paige’s husband is a music producer in the movie, did you ever dream about becoming a pop star?
I never wanted to be a singer. However I did love to dance. I did figure skating and I like sports, I would love to include more physicality in my roles. I had great time ice skating but there isn’t really a future. It was really my past life, but it would be great doing it again. But I am not going to do “Dancing on Ice”!
