THR is reporting that Sony has pushed back the release of Rachel’s upcoming movie the still Untitled Cameron Crowe/Hawaii Project. The movie was set to be released on Christmas day in the US but the release is now pushed back to May 29, 2015.
Sony has pushed back Cameron Crowe’s untitled romantic comedy from December 25, 2014 to May 29, 2015.
The Hawaii-set film features an all-star cast including Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone and Rachel McAdams. It follows a military contractor (Cooper) who returns to the site of his greatest career triumphs – the U.S. Space program in Honolulu, Hawaii – and reconnects with a long-ago love (McAdams) while unexpectedly falling for the hard-charging Air Force watchdog (Stone). Bill Murray also stars as an enigmatic billionaire with suspicious intentions.
The cast is rounded out by John Krasinski, Danny McBride and Alec Baldwin.
Crowe wrote and directed the project, and produced it by Scott Rudin. Ilona Herzberg, Eli Bush and Ben Waisbren executive produced.
The new date puts the film up against horror sequel Insidious Chapter 3 and Paramount’s Monster Trucks.
The Wrap is reporting the following statement by Sony Pictures:
“Once we saw the film, we knew that it would make a perfect summer release. The movie is Cameron at his best,” said Jeff Blake, chairman of worldwide marketing and distribution for Sony Pictures.
TheUncool.com, the official website of writer/director Cameron Crowe, shared the first official look of Rachel in the upcoming still Untitled Cameron Crowe/Hawaii Project. They shared a shot of a frame of Rachel taken in the editing room last month. The movie will be released this Christmas Day (December 25) in the US and Rachel has a supporting role as Tracy. Deadline is reporting that Sony/Columbia/Regency has set a Christmas 2014 release for the still Untitled Cameron Crowe/Hawaii Project. Rachel stars alongside Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone, and John Krasinski. The movie wrapped up filming last year in Hawaii.
Columbia Pictures and Regency Enterprises have marked out a December 25, 2014 release date for their untitled Cameron Crowe film, which stars Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone, Rachel McAdams, Bill Murray, John Krasinski, Danny McBride, and Alec Baldwin. Scott Rudin is producing with Crowe, who wrote and directed the romantic comedy. There’s still no title, but the plot centers on a defense contractor (Cooper) who falls for an Air Force pilot (Stone) after he is assigned to oversee the launch of a weapons satellite from Hawaii.
The movie will be up against “Hot Tub Time Machine 2″, “Into the Woods”, and “Unbroken” according to Box Office Mojo.

Reuters published part of the Q&A with the cast and director Anton Corbijn after the Sundance screening, which can be found in our press archive. The full Q&A session can be watched in our media archive. Director Corbijn spoke to The Wall Street Journal and revealed the studios are aiming for a fall 2014 release:
Corbijn says “A Most Wanted Man,” which is being released by Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions, is expected to open sometime this fall. “The film has a very autumnal look,” said Corbijn, “so the opening should appropriately be in the autumn, maybe September-ish.”
Speaking of movie releases: North Easy is reporting in their interview with Rachel’s Untilted Cameron Crowe Project co-star Danielle Russell that the movie is “expected to be released later this year before Thanksgiving”. If both reports are true that would mean that Rachel has two movies coming out this fall: “A Most Wanted Man” and the still Untitled Cameron Crowe movie.
Local news sources – including Hawaii News Now and KITV – in Hawaii reported last weekend that Cameron Crowe was wrapping up production on his still untitled movie in Hawaii. Bradley Cooper and Emma Stone star in the movie and Rachel will have a supporting role. Other co-stars include John Krasinski, Bill Murray, Jay Baruchel, Danny McBride, and Alec Baldwin. The movie has been filming in Hawaii for the last 3 months and Rachel wrapped up filming her scenes a few days before Emma and Bradley filmed their final scenes.
KITV is reporting that the movie will be released in the second half of 2014. It was reported before that the movie is expected to get a 2014 release.
Rachel was photographed filming a scene for the still untitled Cameron Crowe/Hawaii Project early today in Hawaii. She was seen chatting with director Cameron Crowe and co-star Jay Baruchel was also photographed on set. Rachel and the other cast and crew have been filming in Hawaii since late September and they will reportedly wrap production early December. The movie is expected to be released sometime in 2014.
Rachel was seen filming a scene for the Untitled Cameron Crowe/Hawaii Project yesterday on a beach in Oahu, Hawaii with her co-star Bradley Cooper. The Office actor will join a star-heavy cast that includes Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone, Rachel McAdams, Danny McBride, Jay Baruchel, Alec Baldwin and Bill Murray.
The currently untitled film, set up at Sony, follows a defense contractor (Cooper) who falls for an Air Force pilot (Stone) after he’s assigned to oversee the launch of a weapons satellite from Hawaii.
Krasinski will play a military man married to McAdams, who is playing Cooper’s ex-wife.
Scott Rudin is producing the pic along with Crowe, who also wrote the script.
Rachel and her co-stars Bradley Cooper and Emma Stone have all been spotted in Hawaii for the production of the movie, which started 3 weeks ago. The movie is expected to be released somewhere in 2014. Be sure to check out our previous post about sending in questions for Rachel if you missed it.
