Latest News/Rumours Round-up – Part II

We did not expected to do another latest news round-up so soon after our previous one but we have little bits and pieces to share with you after our last update.

• Since “Midnight in Paris” is opening film for Cannes 2011 and the Film Festival is coming closer it’s getting a lot of buzz and name dropping for the cast, which is a good sign of course. The festival held a press conference yesterday to reveal the official competition selection, according to the press kitMidnight in Paris” is out of the competition so it’s only premiering at the festival. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting the Opening of the festival will bring us a Midnight madness on the Croisette to kick off the festivities. Rachel, Owen Wilson, Carla Bruni, Marion Cotillard, and Adrien Brody are expected to attend.

• “Morning Glory” is still opening world wide and opened in France last week. The movie entered the French box office at number #6 this week. The movie itself does pretty good in the box office and already made $26,564,667 outside the US. It’s already available for the US on DVD since early March.

• We reported before Rachel is not listed in the official cast of the upcoming theater project “The Passion” and we said it’s not most likely she will make an appearance like according to local rumors she would. But she was seen during rehearsals yesterday and today and according to a tweeter she will be in the production. Apparently we misinterpreted the tweet, Rachel only showed up to rehearsals to watch and support Michael Sheen. Read our original post for more information about the project. The event is held in Port Talbot (Wales) during the easter weekend.

Tina Fey Learned from Rachel

Mean Girls” co-star Tina Fey, who you also know from SNL and 30Rock, is currently promoting her book Bossypants and gave an interview to NPR. She reveled she learned from Rachel and has high praise for her. If you ever heard the audio commentary of the “Mean Girls” DVD you already knew Tina admired Rachel’s acting ability and personality but it’s pretty awesome she gives this kind of praise.

I will say I learned that [dealing with the camera and sound] lesson from Rachel McAdams. Do you know the actress Rachel McAdams? She was in “Mean Girls,” and she was a real – and is – a real, legit actor and film actor. And that was the first movie that I had ever been on. And I would watch – I would stand with the director sometimes and watch her scenes.

And I would say to the director: Like, that’s really small. Is she doing it? And then watching her on film, watching the dailies, I’m like: Oh, yes, she’s amazing. She’s a film actor. She’s not pushing. And so I kind of learned that lesson from watching her a couple years before.

Latest News/Rumours Round-up

While we are waiting for the release of “Midnight in Paris” in May we don’t have a big news update for you. But small bits and pieces of news are coming in, so here is a little round-up:

According to People Rachel and her “Midnight in Paris” co-stars are invited and will appear during the Cannes Film Festival 2011. As you all know the movie is selected as opening film, so it’s most likely they will attend the opening, but usually more press days like a press conference and photocall come with releasing a film at Cannes. Let’s keep our fingers crossed!

The festival’s previously announced Opening Selection, Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris, will bring to Cannes cast members Rachel McAdams, Michael Sheen, Owen Wilson, Kathy Bates, Adrien Brody and, it is anticipated, Marion Cotillard, though she is due to give birth at the end of April.

• The tickets for Michael Sheen’s “The Passion” are currently available and the full website is released. We reported before the Welsh media was reporting a possible surprise appearance of Rachel but no other confirmation or hints point to that at the moment. She isn’t listed in the official cast list, so we assume it’s just a rumor.

• We are saving the best news for last: according to Ash Grimes Rachel will grace the cover of Elle Magazine (US) of June 2011. She did a survey for their cover image & all 4 options were Rachel. As you may recall Rachel graced the cover of Elle back in 2007 but it would be amazing if they gave her another cover. We have to wait until the official confirmation, but it would be pretty awesome and good promotion for “Midnight in Paris“.

Update: Just received a tweet from Ash Grimes saying they are currently picking one out of four covers for the magazine. She will be wearing a white jacket or a peachy strapless dress for the cover, can not wait to see the cover and editorial. Self Magazine also reported the magazine cover for Rachel, so it’s safe to say we will see Rachel as Elle Magazine covergirl of June 2011.

“The Passion” with Michael Sheen?

Midnight in Paris” co-star Michael Sheen is currently preparing for his theater event “The Passion” which will be held at various non-theater spaces across Port Talbot over Easter weekend. He co-directs and stars and is joined by a professional cast of 14 and a lot of local extras. According to local rumors Rachel will join Michael for “The Last Supper” at the Seaside Social and Labour Club in Sandfields. It was never confirmed Rachel would appear in one of the (mini) productions of the event (a total of 13 productions) by a spokeswoman but she did reveal that we: “… may catch some unexpected surprises“, maybe she was hinting us about Rachel’s ‘surprise’ appearance?

Rachel and Michael visited Ireland last month, and since Rachel always stated she would love to return to the theater some day it could be she will make a surprise appearance in “The Passion“. We will keep an eye out on the website of Port Talbot, they are giving clues about the event. BBC recently revealed the production will also be filmed.

Possible New Project: Doug Liman Untitled ‘Moon’ Project

A new possible project has came up for Rachel, she is possible involved in the upcoming still untitled ‘Moon‘ Project. According to The Hollywood Reporter, which is a reliable source most of the time, Rachel met with Doug Liman but he met and is still meeting other actors and actresses.

The story sounds true, especially since Rachel was seen out and about in LA before heading to Oklahoma for the (re-)shoot for the untitled Terrence Malick project. A big chance Rachel’s meeting with Doug Liman took place while she was in LA, or maybe she even went to LA to meet with him in the first place? Read the story below, it sounds like an interesting project.

Doug Liman’s untitled Moon project at Paramount may be getting back in orbit.

Liman set up the film project, at one time known as Luna, at DreamWorks back in 2007, after which it migrated to Paramount. Jake Gyllenhaal remained attached at both homes.

The story centers on a renegade group of former space employees, led by an Eastern European woman, who travel the world, stealing space equipment in an attempt to go back to the moon to acquire an energy source. The last item to steal — or in this case, kidnap — is an ex-NASA employee.

The script has gone through several substantial rewrites from several high-profile scribes, including, but not limited to, Mark Bowden, Ken Nolan and Simon Kinberg.

Liman, who directed the recent political thriller Fair Game, has several projects in development and was up until recently enamored with the sci-fi action project All You Need Is Kill at Warners. Kill, however, is now cooling down, while Moon heats up.

Gyllenhaal has moved on, and Liman is now determined to find his two or three leads in one shot. The filmmaker would like to shoot late summer, although no green light has been given and the strength and chemistry of the leads will be a factor in Paramount moving forward.

Those in on the actress meetings included Rosario Dawson, Megan Fox, Rachel McAdams, Eva Mendes, Zoe Saldana and Olivia Wilde.

On the guy side, Andrew Garfield, Emile Hirsch and Chris Pine were met with.

Liman isn’t done yet. He is back in Los Angeles on Wednesday for one day and plans to return next week for more meetings.

No official confirmation on other possible future projects are made so far. Rachel is currently back home in Toronto and probably taking her (well deserved) break after shooting non stop for almost a year now.

What’s Next? (Possible) Upcoming projects

With the release of “Morning Glory” behind us and a few months until “Midnight in Paris” premieres at Cannes I thought I do a little bit of searching around for possible next projects for Rachel. The latest sighting of Rachel was in Ireland, and I think it’s safe to say the is enjoying her well deserved break since she almost worked non-stop last year on “Midnight in Paris“, “The Vow“, the still untitled Terrence Mallick project, promotion for “Morning Glory” and her cameo in “Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows“.

• We reported a few months ago that Rachel was mentioned for the cast of “Welcome To People” alongside Chris Pine and Meryl Streep. Only Pine made it to the officially cast. She was also mentioned for “We Have Always Lived in the Castle” alongside Saoirse Ronan and Michael Douglas and “Oz: The Return to Emerald City” but no news or development status yet.

• Rachel was also mention for “You Are Here” directed by Matthew Weiner with Jack Black, Matt Dillon, Renée Zellweger and Rachel was offered a role. This project is still in development, no official cast has been announced.

• For almost two years now Rachel is mentioned in the involvement in “Ness“, the adaption of “Torso“. Last we heard it’s still not dead yet, but the studios still don’t gave it the green light (yet).

• Last March Rachel was mentioned as the female lead in “The Orphanage“. Mark Pellington revealed they didn’y find the female lead yet.

• Rachel is mentioned for a new project “Honeymoon With Harry” directed by Jonathan Demme alongside Bradley Cooper as Todd Cartwright (Co-star of “Wedding Crashers“) and Robert De Niro as Harry Everett. If this project is happening Rachel would be playing Haley Everett, daughter of De Niro. The plot line can be found below, the status of this project is in development as we speak.

A recovering self-destructive womanizer loses his fiancee in a car accident two days before their wedding and ends up going on his honeymoon with the fiancee’s father, who detests him, so they can scatter her ashes.

• Rachel is also mention for “A Little Something for Your Birthday” and she is attached to this project for over a year now. It’s directed by Michael Engler and so far only Rachel is mentioned in the cast. The status for this project is also in development.

A clothing designer struggles to find love and success after turning thirty.

Remember these projects are still in development, a lot can happen in only a second in film industry. Sometimes it takes years to get the green light, and if they get the green light it could happen Rachel is already filming a new project. But it’s nice to read she is -somewhat- attached to new projects. Big thanks to our visitor Daphne for the heads up, and all the information is coming from the New York Times/StudioSystems, which are reliable sources.

Vogue Italia Editorial

Get really, really excited everyone! Rachel is gracing a new editorial in the current issue (December) of Italia. The photographer is the talented Tom Munro and the styling was done by Ludivine Poiblanc. We have to say: this is one of our favorite shoots. She is almost unrecognizable but as stunning as ever. Be sure to view the full site images in our gallery. Let’s hope we can add the full magazine scans soon. Links and previews are below:
