The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Venice Film Festival artictic director Alberto Barbera announced a list with directors “who just might bring projects to the Venice“. Both Terrence Malick (“To The Wonder“) and Brian de Palma (“Passion“) are mentioned as “as likely candidates“. The festival will take place this year August 29 until September 8.
“To The Wonder” was rumored to premiere at Cannes Film Festival but it was said the film wasn’t ready yet to be added to the line up. It recently got a r-rating and title, previously know as the untitled Terrence Malick project, and both films hit the Cannes market to find (international) buyers. Variety announced that “Passion” found various distributor including for Scandinavia (Scanbox), Russia (Top Film) and Brazil (Playarte).
The official Venice Film Festival line up will be announced late July. Let’s hope both films will be selected!
